Carlene Dowsett, BA, MA, HCPC Reg,MNCH (Reg.), Hpd
Carlene has extensive experience working with marginalized individuals in the social care and mental health sectors. Carlene works with clients on an individual basis and also facilitates therapeutic groups and art projects.
Art Therapy is often a non-verbal process that expands the ways a person conveys concepts and emotions. Carlene believes the creative process enables individuals to understand, explore and resolve their emotional conflicts in a safe and contained environment.
The art object allows the individual to step back and review what they are bringing to the therapy from a number of different perspectives. The art therapy process assists in the recovery of people with psychological trauma, as the client is able to express sensitive subjects in a way that they may not be able to say with words alone.
