Traditional counselling & psychology use talking to bring about relief from emotional, and psychological symptoms and there is a lot of overlap between the two terms. 
There are different types of therapy available: cognitive behaviour (CBT), psychodynamic and psychoanalytic, and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
Each of these will suit different individuals and types of issues this can be discussed at the assessment session.
Therapy that seeks to improve communication and resolve issues within an intimate relationship. It can be short, medium and long term.
Every relationship is unique and an aspect of couples therapy is to look closely how communication styles between couples impact positively and negatively on their relationship, anxiety, self-harm.

Adolescents will require a different individualised approach depending on their particular presentation and issue.
